Citywide car buying

Across Edmonton. At your door.

Edmonton is a big city to sell a dead car in. It covers hundreds of neighbourhoods, and when a vehicle will not run, the hard part is finding a buyer who will come to your side of town without trimming the offer to cover the drive.

We are based just north of the city in St. Albert, and our trucks cross Edmonton every day. From a Castle Downs driveway to a Mill Woods cul-de-sac, the tow is free and you are paid before loading.

Pickups that fit Edmonton.

A pickup here rarely means a car in an open driveway. Tell us where it sits and how to reach it so we send the right truck the first time.

Back alleys

Older neighbourhoods like Westmount, Highlands, Alberta Avenue and Bonnie Doon, where a tow truck has to back in carefully.

Underground parkades

Downtown, Oliver and university buildings with low clearance, where non-running cars may need dollies or skates.

Condo and townhouse lots

Terwillegar, Summerside, Windermere and Clareview properties where visitor stall rules apply.

Industrial yards

Southeast industrial, Winterburn and Mistatim lots, including work vehicles and fleets.

Shops and storage yards

We collect vehicles after any repair or daily storage fees have been settled and the vehicle can be released.

No wrong side of town

We run the Anthony Henday, Yellowhead Trail, Whitemud Drive, Gateway Boulevard, Calgary Trail, St. Albert Trail and Manning Drive daily. Same-day pickup is realistic almost anywhere in the city.

A familiar problem

The Edmonton winter problem

Long stretches near minus 30 kill batteries and starters, crack radiators and freeze coolant in neglected systems. Diesel gels without the right fuel or additives. A cracked engine block on an older vehicle is usually the end of it.

Freeze-thaw cycles also produce potholes that bend rims and wreck suspensions every spring. Road salt eats through brake lines and frames. If your car has been sitting since a cold snap, you are far from alone.

Winter can end a car’s road life. It does not erase its value.
Move it before it costs more

Abandoned and derelict vehicles

The City of Edmonton can treat a vehicle left on a public street for more than a few consecutive days as abandoned and have it towed, leaving impound fees on a car you did not want.

On private property, a wrecked or dismantled vehicle visible to neighbours can be reported and lead to an order to remove it. Selling before either happens saves money and hassle. For exact rules, check with the City of Edmonton at 311.

Make space. Avoid the notice.

We can remove a vehicle from a driveway, alley, shop lot or other accessible location.

A firm number, explained

How your offer is calculated

Distance within Edmonton does not lower your price. A difficult pickup does not either, provided we know about it in advance.

Parts value

Engines, transmissions, alternators, catalytic converters, wheels and panels from common models.

Metal value

Vehicle weight and current scrap steel and aluminium prices.

Condition

Whether it runs, whether it is complete, and rust, hail, fire or flood damage.

Mileage and model year

Lower kilometres and newer models generally mean more usable parts.

Bring the basics

Paperwork for selling in Alberta

Have registration or other proof of ownership in your name and valid photo ID. If the vehicle was financed, pay out its lien first.

Remove your plates after the sale and cancel insurance with the signed bill of sale. See our Alberta car selling paperwork guide for estate sales, lost registration and company vehicles.

Selling options compared

For an older, damaged or non-running vehicle, Edmonton owners usually weigh a few routes before they call.

Private sale online

Can bring the highest price for a clean, running car. A car with problems can mean weeks of messages, no-shows and driveway negotiations.

Dealer trade-in

Convenient when buying a new car, but older trade-ins often go to auction and are priced low to cover risk.

Drive it to a scrapyard

Possible if it runs and you can wait at the scale. A non-runner needs a tow, and walk-in sellers may get less than regular suppliers.

Sell it to us

One call, a firm price, free towing from wherever it sits and payment before it leaves. Often the fastest route for a vehicle with real problems.

Before the truck arrives

Get your car ready for pickup

A few minutes of preparation helps pickup go quickly and avoids surprises.

Remove personal items from the glove box, console, trunk, door pockets and under the seats.
Take your garage door opener, parking passes and any toll transponder.
Have your registration and photo ID ready.
Unscrew your licence plates, or tell the driver you would like a hand.
Clear a path if possible, or describe snow, other vehicles and tight alley access.
At a shop or storage yard, pay fees owed and confirm release hours.
After payment and the signed bill of sale, cancel insurance and keep your copy safe.
